Now What Do I Cook?

Usually once or twice a week I can’t decide what to cook for dinner.  The freezer is full and so is the pantry.  There are plenty of choices . . .  but no “dash of culinary brilliance”.

Several months ago I made a list of meal combinations my family enjoyed.  I thought this would really help but again no dash of brilliance when I needed it. (5:45 when dinner is at 6:00).  I kept the list just in case I might feel inspired later on.

After checking out several blogs on meal planning and how to go about it,I was ready to do it.  They all said you could save money on groceries,be more organized and have culinary brilliance.  Sounded great to me.  I picked up a menu/shopping pad and got started.

Who wouldn’t want to meal plan with one of these stylish little pads.

I tried.  I honestly did!  It just didn’t work for me.

Not to be deterred,I kept searching and ran across Melissa’s post @ I DID IT.  She suggests that you make one meal a week the same every week.  You could have Sandwich Saturday or Pizza Friday.  I started Taco  Tuesday at my house this week.  My Guy is thrilled.  He loves tacos and I love how simple tacos are to make.   I liked this idea so much that I also added  Soup/Salad Thursday.  Now while it is cool,I’ll have soups or stews but as the weather warms up I’ll switch to hearty salads with grilled meat or fish.  With this small change,I feel much more organized.    This also means that I only have five meals to plan the rest of the week.  I can do this!!!  Good bye menu plans and frustration.

I think my ”dash of culinary brilliance”might return!  What about yours?
